is for you if you are active, want to be active, or just want to
relax and find enjoyment.
Director
Pat Pallardy knows the area and her vision has made this program
a reality. Her desire is to connect women, opening the door
for active recreation. Come join the fun! Contact Pat today for
information on Set Free
and how
to join us. Contact Pat at
Pat's e-mail.
Meet Pat,
Set Free's Director
Pat came to the LaCrosse area in the early 1970's as a college
student and earned a degree in Recreation. She enjoyed
the area so much she decided to stay. Her
passions are kayaking, biking, and cross-country skiing and she
loves to share her enthusiasm with others. She recognized a need
in the area for women to be able to safely experience the beauty
that surrounds us. Pat had a vision of connecting women
so that we could multiply the pleasure and safety of outdoor
activities. Set Free
is the way she has chosen to make this happen.

Meet Kris, Kayak Specialist
Kris has two passions in her life: her career as a Physical
Therapist and kayaking. She started kayaking in 1998. Her first
experience kayaking was an eight-mile paddle on Lake Superior and it
was painful. She recognized that she had two options: 1)
never kayak again! or 2) learn to do it right so she
could enjoy it. She chose option 2 and has been paddinglinr
extensively in the LaCrosse area and at Lake Superior ever since. She
is currently working toward her certification as a kayaking
instructor. She would like to help women learn how to kayak and
watch them enjoy her personal passion.

Meet Patti, Moonlight Specialist
and Monday Point Volunteer
Patti has always enjoyed being outside day or night, spring,
summer, fall, or winter. Last summer she kayaked during a full moon and was hooked. Since
then she's tried
other activities in the moonlight and loves them all. She's
looking forward to snowshoeing by the light of the moon
reflecting off the snow.

Meet Marilyn, Road Trip
Specialist and Fort Wilderness Detail Person
Marilyn will be planning
road trips for us, all within an easy two-hour drive.
Marilyn has a post-viral syndrome that challenges her daily
to use her physical energy wisely,
thus she and her husband
began taking road trips. Marilyn is looking forward to
sharing with us some of the great places they have visited.
The Amish flower sale, an antiquing road trip and a craft focus trip
are just a few of the ideas she has, so come and enjoy the
area in a new way.
Marilyn is gifted in the area of organizing details. She has
helped Pat organize area Bible studies as well as an annual
winter adventure to Fort Wilderness, a Christian camp
in northern Wisconsin. She is also volunteering her time to help
organize a September hiking trip along the north shore of
Lake Superior and an October weekend at the Fort.

Last, but not least, a big thank you to Pat's husband of 30 years,
Gene, for his unfailing support as
Set Free took wing, and also
the loan of his "Big
Boy Truck" for hauling kayaks.
